Yogic Bliss and Inherent Bodily Pleasure

There is a tremendous amount of pleasure inherent to the body when native energies are moving through it in an unblocked manner (or at least in a less stressed manner) In fact the amount of bodily based blissful energy can be astounding and apparently limitless, as has always been the testimony of aspirants and accomplished yogis of any tradition (and continues to be)

These energies can be clearly known , felt and even seen as refined energies of the body and nervous system ( no extraordinary psychism required ) using your own body mind as a vehicle of inspection

The natural blissfulness of the body when it is “unlocked” and allowing of this native flow is a maturing process, where in sensitivity to these energetic states grows over time.

A great deal of illusionary mind is also stimulated by these same currents, without a Guru or Teacher who has gone through and transcended ( meaning has seen the limitation of these state and its associations ) all manner of delusion is possible ( and this can be seen clearly as well )

However natural pleasurable –conductivity– ( meaning exactly what this word implies a unbroken flow ) is native to the body and living things, without deep bodily bliss readily available and at least relatively constant in the body mind, the world and life appear devoid of real sustenance and we are always hungry and addicted to any pleasurable source.

Possibily the most universal means of people contacting these internal blissful energies is by listening to and performing ecstatic chant in a religious context, everybody who has or does this knows its potency and very simple mindless pleasure.

You can add, for instance, the Hindu, Christian, Buddhist or Sufi mind forms but it remains a simple fundamentally “mindless” universal experience. In Adidam such states are not seen as Divine, or contacting the Divine, but rather the natural pleasurable conducting of native bodily and mentally refined energies.

My Teacher Adi Da Samraj defined “the yogi” as

“Those who are primarily concerned with undoing the vital contraction at the great region of the navel in order to enjoy the bliss or fullness of unobstructed movement of the life-force ”

It is noted as distinct from more ascended, subtle or Transcendental possibilities of traditional spiritual accomplishment

I was informed by a longtime practitioner, that Adi Da once stated that it is very important to become ” a yogi ” –at least– by the time you turn 50 years of age ( in the sense of allowing this great enjoyment and native conductivity through the body mind )

Traditional means to stimulate or control this internal force include physical exercise, sexual discipline, movements and poses including breathing, meditation, chanting. mantra, diet, right association, ecstatic dance, visualization, study of text, self discipline and right bodily action.

All of these are incorporated and refined to a most useful and effective form into the daily practice recommended by Adi Da to his students, but to be done from a radically differing position to the conventional yogic search He also draws a very distinct line between personal psycho physical energy and the overwhelming descending Shaktipat of the Siddha Master

Divine Shakti versus Kundalini Shakti

The more obvious examples of the effort to achieve yogic conductivity and absorbative states in contempory traditions is seen in the Sikh Kundalini paths, various forms of Kriya Yoga, Pranayama schools, forms of Taoist Yoga, various Tantric Yoga forms and Hatha Yoga — though nearly all traditions have forms of this approach.

People interested in the demonstrable aspects of spiritual force and transmission may enjoy the firsthand accounts of students of Adi Da who witnessed the extraordinary displays of spiritual force in the famous “Garbage and the Goddess” period.
